Assessment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal, sports and neurological conditions, planned alongside the clinic's orthopaedic service.

Physiotherapy
All specialities
Physiotherapy at Emerald Avenue Medical Clinic covers the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, pain disorders and sports injury.
The service sits alongside orthopaedics rather than after it, so surgical and non-surgical management are planned together and rehabilitation can begin before an operation as well as after one.
Treatment is delivered one to one. Each plan is built from the assessment, combines manual therapy, exercise and physical modalities, and is reviewed as you progress.
The first appointment is an assessment. You will be asked about the history of the problem, what aggravates it and what you need to get back to, followed by a physical examination of the affected area and the joints around it.
You will then be taken through the findings and the plan, and treatment usually begins in the same session. You will leave with exercises to continue at home, since what happens between appointments carries much of the work.
Please wear or bring clothing that allows the area to be examined and moved, and bring any scans, reports or operation notes you hold.
A full physical assessment covering the painful area, the joints above and below it, and the movement pattern behind the problem.
Hands-on treatment of joints and soft tissue to address stiffness, restriction and pain.
A progressive exercise plan for strength, control and mobility, taught in clinic and set out for you to continue between appointments.
Preparation before an operation and structured rehabilitation afterwards, coordinated with the orthopaedic surgeon.
Staged return-to-sport rehabilitation, with the criteria for each stage set at the start rather than by the calendar.
Needling of trigger points and muscle tissue for pain and restriction.
Application of ANF devices as part of a wider treatment plan.
Taping for support, load management and swelling.
Shockwave treatment for tendon conditions, including Achilles tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis.
Physical modalities used alongside manual therapy and exercise, not in place of them.
Rehabilitation of movement, balance and function for neurological conditions.

No. You can book physiotherapy directly with the clinic. If you are already under the care of the orthopaedic surgeons, the referral is made internally.
Emerald Avenue Medical Clinic is mid implementation on insurance and currently works with a limited number of insurers. Please contact the clinic before your appointment to check whether yours is among them.
Appointment length is confirmed when you book. The first appointment is longer than a follow-up because it includes the assessment.
Clothing that allows the affected area to be examined and moved, along with any scans, reports or operation notes you hold.
That depends on the condition and is discussed at the assessment. Progress is reviewed as you go rather than fixed at the start.
