The orthopaedic service at Emerald Avenue Medical Clinic covers the assessment, diagnosis and management of conditions affecting bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles.
Patients are seen by consultant orthopaedic surgeons trained in Germany and the United States, across sports injury, trauma, joint preservation and joint replacement. Where imaging is required it is arranged and reviewed as part of the same episode of care.
The service works alongside the clinic's physiotherapy team, so surgical and non-surgical management are planned together rather than one after the other.
The first appointment is a consultation with the orthopaedic surgeon. You will be asked about the history of the problem, how it affects your daily activity and what has already been tried, followed by a physical examination of the affected joint.
If imaging is needed, an X-ray or MRI is arranged and the findings are discussed with you directly. You will leave with a written plan setting out the options open to you, including non-surgical management where that is appropriate.

Keyhole assessment and treatment of the knee, including meniscal repair and partial removal, cartilage procedures and removal of loose bodies.
Reconstruction and revision of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, with graft choice discussed at consultation.
Rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation, labral repair, acromioplasty and release for frozen shoulder.
Hip, knee and shoulder replacement, including revision surgery and reverse shoulder arthroplasty.
Management of upper and lower limb fractures, pelvic trauma, and corrective surgery for malunion and non-union.
Achilles tendon repair, ankle stabilisation, hallux valgus correction and ankle fracture fixation.
Carpal tunnel release, Dupuytren's surgery, scaphoid fixation and small joint procedures.
Diagnostic and therapeutic injection of the shoulder, hip, knee and small joints under image guidance.
