The gynaecology service at Emerald Avenue Medical Clinic covers women's health across every stage: contraception and family planning, pregnancy, fertility, the management of gynaecological conditions, and care through perimenopause and menopause.
Patients are seen by a DHA licensed specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist. Obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound is arranged as part of the same episode of care, so an examination and a scan sit in one appointment rather than across two.
The service also covers aesthetic and functional gynaecology. Those procedures are held apart from the medical pathway and are discussed only where a patient raises them.
The first appointment is a consultation with the gynaecologist. You will be asked about your history, your cycle and any symptoms you have noticed, followed by an examination and, where it is appropriate, a scan.
The findings are discussed with you directly and you will leave with a plan setting out the options open to you. Nothing is carried out at a first appointment without being explained to you beforehand.
Please bring any previous scans, screening results or operation notes you hold, along with a list of any medication you take. A chaperone is available on request.
Antenatal assessment and monitoring through pregnancy, including the care of high-risk pregnancy, with the plan set out with you at each stage.
Pelvic and obstetric scanning, including fetal assessment and growth monitoring.
Cervical smear testing, HPV screening and colposcopy, with treatment of genital warts where required.
Investigation of difficulty conceiving, ovulation tracking and ovulation induction, alongside preconception advice.
Discussion of the options open to you, with intrauterine device and contraceptive implant insertion and removal.
Assessment and treatment of fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts and polycystic ovary syndrome. Where a surgical procedure is appropriate it is assessed and arranged at consultation.
Assessment of perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms, including hormonal management where that is appropriate for you.
Examination and screening covering cervical health, breast examination and pelvic assessment.
Vaginal laser treatment, labiaplasty and platelet-rich plasma procedures, assessed at consultation.
