General practice is the front door to the clinic. It covers the illnesses that arrive without warning, the long-term conditions that need steady management, and the routine checks that sit behind both.
Patients are seen by a DHA licensed general practitioner whose background spans emergency medicine and general surgery as well as family practice. Adults and children are both seen, and the first assessment is broad rather than a quick handover.
Where a problem needs specialist input, the referral is made inside the clinic wherever that discipline is present, so orthopaedics, gynaecology, ENT, dental, aesthetics and physiotherapy are a step away rather than a separate search. Laboratory tests and imaging are arranged and the findings reviewed with you.
The first appointment is a consultation with the general practitioner. You will be asked about the problem, your medical history and any medication you take, followed by an examination relevant to the complaint.
If a test is needed, bloods, swabs or imaging are arranged and the findings are discussed with you directly. You will leave with an explanation of what has been found and a plan, including a prescription or a referral where one is appropriate.

Review and ongoing management of conditions such as high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, diabetes and thyroid disorders, including prescription review.
Examination and laboratory testing covering general health, cardiovascular risk, diabetes, thyroid function, vitamin levels and anaemia.
Adult and paediatric immunisation, influenza vaccination and travel vaccination, arranged according to the schedule appropriate to you.
Assessment and dressing of wounds, suture removal, and management of minor lacerations and skin lesions.
Assessment of suspected fracture, splinting and immobilisation, with onward referral to the orthopaedic service.
Intravenous fluid and vitamin infusions, given after assessment and where clinically indicated.
Assessment and treatment of common childhood illness, alongside routine checks and immunisation.
Referral to the clinic's specialists, or to a hospital where a problem needs care beyond general practice, with the findings passed on so that you do not start again.
